2 Lecture tapes play via the RealPlayer Plug-in, which you can obtain free from www.real.com. The first half of the semester is currently available as separate .rm files. If your browser is properly configured, it should automatically interpret the .rm extension as a Real Media file. The lecture files are available in 3 resolutions/transmission rates: 56kpbs, 150kbps, and 450kbps (kbps = kilobits per second transmission rate). If you are using a 56k modem, you should watch the 56k version. If you are connected via a faster line, you can try either the 150k or 450k versions. The second half of the semester is becoming available as more sophisticated .ram/.rm files with a RealServer connection. These files should play automatically on most computers and select an appropriate transmission rate for optimal use of the available bandwidth.
