This course on "The Contemporary British Novel" focuses on the literature and culture of postcolonial London. I welcome those of you who want to take a small seminar in the humanities but have no experience in them yet. This could be a great way to see if your interests in global cultures, international affairs, literature and the arts, and in potentially studying abroad in England in the future may be stirred by being part of a small, discussion oriented seminar. We will be reading great novels about British cosmopolitanism, Black Britain, immigration, race, gender, and nationality. I will also be including some films and videos in class on a weekly basis. All this, and you'll have very detailed help developing research and writing skills. Come and check it out: TR 9:30-10:45 in Dawson's Row (Seminar Room). Note room change from what is listed on SIS.
