19569 001Seminar (3 Units)Open13 / 15James IgoeTu 3:30PM - 6:00PMBrooks Hall 103
Indigenous landscapes are spaces of cultural production, land rights advocacy, and environmental care. They are essential to indigenous sovereignty, and the material and symbolic ground of contested futures. Focusing on landscapes in Africa, Australia, and North America, we will explore their connections to art, media, and related imaginaries, global social movements, and potential solutions to current socio-ecological crises. This seminar is supported by a Mellon Indigenous Arts Fellowship, and will offer unique opportunities for engagement with the Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Arts Collection.
